3Looks great, sounds tinnyNov 13, 2008
By S. Vernon
Got this piano for my 15 month old a few weeks ago. I have more fun learning piano on it right now than he does but he does give the keys a good banging a couple times per day. The finish on the piano is very nice and assembly was painless. The sound is a bit tinny and its pretty clear that there is a xylophone-type mechanism inside rather than strings and hammers, but for the young ones who are not being groomed for the symphony, its fine. This one should be able to last a few years until my little boy improves to the point of needing something that sounds a bit more realistic. Three stars overall just because the sound doesn't quite match the otherwise good looks of the piano.

5Great first piano for the little tikes!Mar 08, 2008

I got this piano for my daughter's third birthday and she absolutely loves it! It is the cutest piano I have ever seen and pretty much plays like one (but I think there is a xylophone inside because it has a chime-like sound... it still sounds nice though). I like how it has a little color-coded indicator that you can put over the keys to help them get the notes and when they get older and are familiar with the piano keys, you can easily take it off. A little bit of music comes with it too and it looks gorgeous in our home. It was also very easy to put together, I didn't even have to read the instruction manual!

I highly recommend this piano to any parent who wants to expose their child to music. Being a musician and music teacher myself, I believe that the piano is one of those "fundamental instruments" that every musician should familiarize themselves with because it gives them a better understanding of music theory and scales and such even before they learn another instrument. Exposure to music has also been proven to enhance a child's learning capabilities. So, I think this piano is a great start to exposing a child to the world of music! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ALL THE WAY!!!!

4Wonderful!Dec 16, 2010

Wonderful gift! We got this for my daughters first birthday and she gets the biggest smile on her face while playing. Then she says yay and claps after she's done playing. She will get lots of use from this until she is ready for a real piano.Note: Do not expect this to sound like a real piano. It is a xylophone.

2Poor QualityDec 13, 2010
By J.M. "Crafter"
The outside of this piano is very nice - high black laquer finish and completely adorable. The set up is primarily supposed to be attaching the legs to the piano and the bench. My piano came out of the box with all of the keys jammed down - none of the keys worked. Because I was giving to my daughter the next day we opened up the top of the piano to try to fix it ourselves. The inside of the piano was a mess - the board that was supposed to hold the keys in place was made out of a step above cardboard - which was poorly stapled together and was falling apart. The screws to hold into place were too short, stripped and the holes that they were supposed to be in where too big which is why the whole inside had fallen apart. It took us over 2 hours with glue, new screws, brackets to get into working order. I still am not convinced our fixes will hold. I am frustrated that I did not just send it back and get my money, but we wanted to give my daughter the piano. Since seeing the inside and poor quality materials and workmanship I do not recommend buy this piano. I only gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because the outside really does look nice.

2Tinny soundJan 01, 2010
By Kathleen Callahan
I can't decide if my piano is actually broken or whether it's just beautiful outside and very poor quality inside. When we opened it to build it on Christmas Eve for my 2 year old, the entire inner workings were a mess--my husband put the inside back together and the sound is so tinny and miserable. It's so disappointing because the reviews make it sound like a nice piano, and it is absolutely beautiful. My daughter loves using it but the sound is so disappointing, esp. when I just heard the sound of the cheaper Melissa and Doug wooden piano (not as pretty, but massively better sound). Has anyone else experienced horrible sound?
