I just got my old english sheepdog (webkinz) today and I absolutley adore it! It is cuter than the picture itself. It came a day late than the estimated date that it would be at my home... but i guess it was because of the weather! I saved 6 dollars when i bought it off of amazon, and it can be used for prime (:

My 6 y/o daughter has loved Webkinz for a couple years now. She has about 20 of them and this one is sturdy not just full of fluff. Not hard though either, it has a lot of fur to it (some shedding occurs occasionally).
The online experience can be a good one too using the code that comes with each animal. Some of the games are thought provoking while others have been good for dexterity. To gain optimal benefits though, I would suggest sitting with your child and taking time to understand Webkinz world not just looking at it as a part time way to occupy your child. With this parental guidance and your understanding there are many possible benefits. Working for (playing the games), saving (Webkinz cash) & spending (buying food, clothes and furniture in the W shop) in this virtual world with coupons & sales offered is good practice for the real thing. Also can be used to teach responsibility. This virtual world gives extra money/ food prizes for checking in daily providing extras for Holidays but if you miss a day in the 7 day week you will not receive it.
And an often over looked feature of Webkinz World is being able to play with another person any where in the world that has an account. We bought "Grandma" a pet, set it up for her & showed her how it all works. She loves seeing her little virtual pet smile & send a heart floating up when she enters its room. Now if we plan a time or just call to see if Grandma can play all they have to do is both be on at the same time and choose the same color for this virtual phone (this is to put them on the same server so they can interact). Then they can enjoy this virtual world together, playing games against each other (including paper scissors rock, bowling & billiards (many more available. They can even purchase (with Webkinz money they have earned, not real currency) a party and invite many friends or just one. If they cannot get on at the same time they can always send each other virtual gifts and mail from a pre-chosen choice of wording & kid friends stationary. This makes the site safe. Even if an adult is perhaps pretending to be a child they would have no way to say anything other than the words/short phrases they offer. My daughter LOVES to check her mailbox and send gifts & letters.
Parents also get the chance to choose a few settings to meet there standards as well.
Love them!
Oh, and all the little animals are made well, are cute and safe!
