cute, perfect sizeOct 03, 2010
By J. Labonte This is a nice pack for little ones. My daughter is in preschool, and as I watched her classmates pour out of the school building one day, I became aware of how huge their backpacks were. I spent some time looking for one that would not be so huge, but that would not be tiny either. When I came across this pack, I read some reviews, trying to get an idea for its size, and decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did, because the size is just right. It is not too large, yet it is sizeable enough to hold a folder, papers, a snack, and a change of clothes with room to spare. Also the little water bottle holder on the side is cute; of course we had to buy the matching bottle. My daughter is thrilled with the ballerina print as well. I also ordered one for my son, the dinosoar pack, and it's really cute. I do recommend this for pre-K and knidergarten, it really is just what they need.

great backpack for a little girlJun 14, 2011
By Erika None of the small backpacks I found at regular stores, like Target, fit a regular school binder. The bigger ones were too big for my 34 3/4 inches little girl. She started pre-school and needed a backpack to carry her lunch bag, extra clothes, and bring home her artwork, homework or notes from the teacher, etc.
This backpack is just the right size! And it is very well done. I think it will last for a good few years.
Very satisfied!

Great backpack for kindergarten studentSep 30, 2010
By Joanna Szczotka Beautiful , bright colors. I love the plastic zipper and pulls. The size is just right for my 5.5 year old daughter. The only con; I would prefer if the bottom was stiffer, more reinforced.

Perfect for PreK!Sep 13, 2011
By Grace's Mama My daughter is about 2 1/2 years old and starting preschool. We had one backpack for her (the adorable Skip Hop Zoo Pack Little Kid Backpack, Penguin) that we used as her carry on for travel. However, the Skip Hop backpack at 10" high is too small for school use. We went to multiple stores (Target, Kohl's, Toys r' Us) and found backpacks were either too small (10" or 11" high) or too large (my poor toddler would topple over!). So, I searched the internet and found this backpack. The 11.5" width and 14" height is perfect! It's big enough to fit a folder for carrying home teacher notes and art projects but not so big that my toddler can't carry it. Though smaller than your average middle school/high school backpack, it's roomy enough for a preK-K child. I can pack my daughter's lunch (in the cute Skip Hop Zoo Lunchies Insulated Lunch Bag - Penguin), a school folder, and a sweater with plenty of room to spare. The outside pocket also has a little organizer with pockets and pen/pencil holders and there's a side pocket to hold a drink. The only potential drawback: the image on the pocket (in our case, the ballerina) looks like it could wear away with washing.
Overall, it's perfect for our purpose! If you have children who need to carry a large binder and/or texts, this would not be a suitably sized backpack.

Adorable but a bit on the small sideAug 15, 2011
By JKM Holland, Mom and Perinatal Nurse Ordered this for my starting-2nd-grade daughter to replace a well used different-brand pack from last two years. Item is even more adorable in real life than on the website.....BUT it's also a bit on the small side--even after measuring out the dimensions given. I'm not sure her lunchbox, homework folder, library book and jacket will all fit inside?
